In an earlier post someone advised that Whidbey Island can offer some good sunsets.
Here is one from Thanksgiving eve. The setting sun did not look promising but once it dropped below the Olympic Crest it started to brighten. I am sure the coast was clear and the sun was reflecting off the water 75 miles west of Whidbey Island and Puget Sound, illuminating the high clouds over the Olympic Peninsula. I see many sunsets like this during the winter months.

What a beautiful shot! Of course the colors and the silhouettes are awesome, but I love that you can even make out the snow on the mountain tops. Last night while driving home to the San Juan Islands there was another amazing pink sunset....it's easy to forget how awesome winter sunsets can be, especially when they don't look "promising" before the sun actually sets. Thanks for sharing!

This is great Craig! I am soooo happy someone captured this sunset. I was with family in Roche Harbor that particular evening and only had the p&s . It was certainly one to remember. You have exposed this perfectly as Monika said getting awesome detail out of those Olympics.

That's a Whidbey sunset for you. It waits until the last minute and then lights up the cloudy sky with color - it's like clockwork. I think that was my post you were referring to Craig. Beautiful silhouette of that eagle on the post.
