A quick query to see if anyone has seen or had experience of the Acuter 70mm digital imaging Spotting Scope. It's a combined camera/spotting scope.
A colleague of mine is a keen birder and has tried using a digital compact on his birding scope but is not happy with it. He saw this advertised and asked me what I thought. Can anybody offer any insights. By the way, he is not looking for quality photographs but simply record images and convenience of use.

I was somewhat intrigued by this system as I had never heard of it, it seems to have two limitatons - the digital sensor is small - 3.1MP and the telescope is a fixed 14x magn., which for birding use is probably too short, the camera element has a digital 4x zoom capacity, but its not clear how this is function works from the specs overview I found.
I would have thought the same basic issues of standard birders tripod and mount are the main limiting factors be it digiscoping or this all in one system - Very few birders I know have invested in sufficiently robust tripod gear to get the best out of any image making system, camera shake is the main culprit of their blurred images
