Island Road
This is the main road running through Cumberland Island. I took a bunch of these shots and decided to try this one in B&W.

Thanks for looking!

Wow! Great composition. I love the way the road veers off in the bottom corner of the frame. And those live oaks lend themselves so perfectly to the BW format. For anyone that has never been in an old coastal live oak habitat like this one, this shot will really put them there. Nice work.

Really interesting, Wade. So many textures. What time of year? Recently? What was your impression other photo opportunities and compositions on Cumberland. I hear it's beautiful.

This should be the cover for a book by Faulkner or James Lee Burke or anyone who writes great novels about the South.

This photo really tells a story.

You can find similar roads on Sapelo and Ossabaw Islands. Kind of goes with the territory of maritime liveoak forest. It is a unique habitat, one of great beauty. At one time in the pre-Revolutionary past, these forests were a source of ship's timbers for the Royal Navy.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Scott, I shot this a couple of weeks ago and I can tell you that Cumberland is an incredible place and definitely worth the drive down there. The problem isn't finding something to shoot - its trying figure out what to shoot from all of the different possibilities. I've been there twice this year and plan on going back early next year.

I love b&w and this is a great mix of textures and sharp detail. You have gorgeous work in your smug mug gallery.

Sweet shot Wade!! This looks great in B&W because of the contrast between the palm fronds and oak trees.
