Does anyone know if the iconic Teardrop Arch in Monument Valley photographs well in winter sunset? Or does it stay in the shadows until the sun is further north? Any info would be much appreciated.

According to Joseph Lange, that arch is indeed enveloped in shadow in the winter afternoons.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, though....just a different view.

I've shot it a couple times, and only in winter-ish months. It is indeed in shadow, which is an okay look if you know that going in. I've never been there with anything exciting enough happening in the sky to make for a great shot, but a silhouette could be nice if there's something really strong going on in the distance.
