Here is my first attempt at a Short Eared Owl! What a bird and experience. Had been told about a few of these that have taken up winter near me. Headed there today in conditions that others would have stayed at home in but if you dont try, you dont get, found the field and lodge myself into a ditch, have seen shots from this site and i wanted to try something diff by getting some enviro in there instead of just a bird against the sky

Love the set up you used to get this shot
The low angle shooting & bg adds a lot to the shot IMO.

Looks positively Mediterranean to me Aren't these mesmerising to watch? Great shot. Love the stare.
You certainly achieved what you set out to do, a great enviro. shot of the owl hunting. Agree with Vince that the background really suits this image.

A really lovely shot. i love the way the sharp bit of ground gives the impression of the area he is scanning. If that makes sense.

Cracking shot - well deserved. I was one of the 'stay-at-home's today and feel suitably punished by your picture!

That's a beauty Andy. The 'bigger' picture treatment really works well for me and I love the light on the bird.

Think the environment works really well in this Andy. I'll be happy to get something approaching this good if I can catch the local ones I've heard about!
