Goldcrest
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4, 1/640s, f6.3, iso 400. Minor cloning of small twigs encroaching on bird. No saturation added.

Isn’t it great when things work out as you hoped? I set out today specifically to get a goldcrest. I had seen them over the past few days, but deep in the undergrowth. I had never seen one (with crest showing) in the open. Just before the sun set, I left the patch where I saw them previously, and went to another area where I knew of another species. As I turned the corner, I saw a flash of fluorescent yellow right in front of me. I managed to get into minimum focussing distance, but clear shots were very rare in the minute or so he was there. I’m very happy!

Hi Ian,

That's a very nice shot. The light and colours are excellent. It's lovely when you go to get something and you come home with some decent images of what you planned to get!!

Nice work thanks for sharing

Regards

Rob

Cracking shot, Ian. One of then best goldcrest I've seen and the position of the head shows of the crest perfectly. I'm not surprised you chuffed with this one!

Never an easy bird these Ian, and that crest is really colourful.

Great Ian, you've captured the essence of them! A good effort given their constant moving about!

I missed this great shot Ian. You have caught the crest really well and it looks lovely and sharp. The left side of the breast is perhaps getting a little too hot. :toast: :toast:
