I have often enjoyed the work in this forum from afar (being primarily a fauna poster), but now I am spending more time in the UK I thought I should get involved. It'll probably be quite 'boring' subjects at first, (until I find some good local spots!), and I may still post the odd african image...
I spent this evening at my local park, and heres a simple female mallard...

Hi Billy,
Welcome to the forum
An interesting first post, the water has a lovely colour and texture, For me the image looks a little unbalanced as I feel it would be better if you had the lower part of the reflection in the frame as well to give it a more symmetrical look, Also the exposure has left the Mallard neither in full silohuette nor showing much detail, again for me it would have been better if it was one or the other, not inbetween.
Hope that helps
Regards
Rob

Welcome Billy
I love female mallard shots and this is very nice. I like the backlighting giving the golden rim on the head and the water is sublime. It would have been nice to get the whole reflection. There's a funny spicule of light or something in the top right, which would be worth removing. Look forward to seeing more.

Hi Billy. A nice start and I especially like the ice on the beak and the water colour/texture. I must admit I'm not too sure about the comp though. Eric
