Okay, here's my contribution. two views, the first from Sunday night over Santa Fe, the second from a vantage point in the Jemez mountains. Both with a Nikon D80, 18-135, the former at F6.7, 8 sec, 26mm; the latter at F8, 2 sec, 38mm.

Nice shots, I like #1 as well.

Yep, numero uno also! So much better than the one I didn't take cause I thought 200mm would be too short!

#1 is outstanding!

Hey there Dan!
Beautiful shot of the moon/planets over The City Different! I love the gradient from yellow-orange to deep blue and the city lights. Very nice composition!

They are both EXCELLENT! Nice job, Dan. I love your minimalist approach to the first one.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I'm a little surprised by the overwhelming choice of #1, but my wife picked that one too (she was right again. As usual).
Todd: Thanks, I was trying to keep the composition in both as simple as possible, highlighting the moon and planets but also providing some terrestrial perspective. They actually look a lot better larger, as the planets show up much better.

Both great, but number 1 is my favorite of the two.
Count me as one more fan of #1. I love the sense of expanse and distance, and the layered mountains. I also like Sunday's configuration of stars better then Monday's; I've been kicking myself for not getting out that night. I too found that I got surprisingly good shots when I switched to my wide lens, better than I had assumed.
Didn't realize there was another Santa Fean here.

Another vote for #1 - great expansive view; it really suits the moment well. Nice work on both!
