Mistle Thrush on Mistletoe
Don't wish to appear dramatic but this has been a picture that I have had in my mind since I was a kid. It has taken a long time but I got there in the end. Been sat in front of a tree with mistletoe and apples for long sessions over the past three days.( Yes it was cold for these old bones ! )
It has been an amazing time. Had a total of a dozen different species feeding on the apples. But this was the one I wanted on the Mistletoe.. It happened twice in the tree days. Not cutting sharp but it will have to do.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did getting it !Plenty of dickies on apples to come !
Cheers

Thanks . Its not always the stuff that's hard to get that's popular, so I'm pleased you have taken the time to comment.

genius - even though the frame is filled with leaves the fact that the BG beyond is OOF it puts the subject in context very well, you had some nice light on him there as well, and your right it has been cold sitting out these last few days, pays off though nice one!

Congratulations on achieving a dream shot. I 'infected' my Classic Blenheim Orange apple tree with mistletoe 10 years ago and I have only once seen a thrush take a berry since the two separate plants started fruiting about five years ago. Very well done indeed.

Thanks
It seems that these birds don't do this as often as is generally reported in the "bird books".
This bird spent more time on the apples on the floor than in the berries.. There must be a connection from the latin "viscivorus" however.
I've tried to find a pic with the bird doing this but there was none. maybe its a first !
Cheers

I think you have done really well with this. The bird stands out very nicely despite the busy background without which it wouldn't be half the shot it is. Well done all round. Eric

Think you have done great John.
Not only have you got the bird on the Mistletoe but its the one to go with it.
The other thing is I bet there are one or two on here that have never seen Mistletoe let alone photographed it. Round here I know of some sites but its usually sky high not in Apple.
