So now that I have Windows Vista 64bit I realise that it has a lot of difference, a lot of them drive me up the wall. One I can't figure out right now is....somebody send me an email with a file attached or I want to download a file, up pops the box open or save file now. When I choose save it goes into the Temporary Folder and no other option is available like previous versions. I do a search for the file or files and nothing shows up. If I choose the run option nothing happens either. I should say right now that I am running the free Norton 360 program that came with my PC until it expires. Is it a Norton issuse or windows? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

What program are you using for email? or is it browser based email? I have vista 32 & 64 and they are about the same. Both a hassle.

Jody, I'm not certain, but this may be a browser configuration issue. I don't use IE, but FireFox gives me the option - in Tools>Options - to either have a browse window come up when downloading/saving files and email attachments, or define the default destination folder. If I select the default folder option, clicking "download" in an email automatically sends the file that folder. If I click "save" in the email, I have the same issue you do - the file goes off to some unknown place on my hard drive, so I always choose download.
Check your browser options and see if you can configure there.

I use Vista 64 bit with IE and I haven't encountered this problem.
I just did a couple of tests to check, and when I choose 'Save', I'm immediately presented with a dialog box containing a tree of drives and folders.
When I choose 'Open', an image will open in PS. If it's another file, then it opens using the app. of my choice.
In order to have the files open in your chosen program, you need to click on the Start button, then the Default Programs tab on the right, then 'Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Program'.
If that doesn't work, then you may have an issue with Norton automatically putting stuff in your temp. files as a security precaution?
You can find out by uninstalling it. No big loss there...there are lots of good (..and free!) programs that will do just about everything that the Norton app. can while using fewer resources.
