Here's another from the UP in early October--the Lake Superior shore at sunset. I don't do a lot of sunstar stuff, but I thought this shot would work because of all the highlights on the water, rocks, etc. This is a manual blend of two frames, one for the sky, one for everything else. My goal with blends and HDR is to have the image match, as closely as possible, the tonalities my eyes saw when the shutter was tripped.

I really like this one! Great composition and color.

Wonderful image Kerry. The waves and stormy sky add a lot of drama, and the composition highlights all the elements well. Were you shooting from above the falls? A great location for scenics!
Brian, I was standing a bit--east, I guess it is--of the spot where Elliot Creek spills into Lake Superior. It sure is a great spot for early evening shooting.
Wow! I've tried a few HDR photos but nothing as successful as this.
Thanks, Phillip. Just to clarify, this shot isn't HDR--it's a manual blend of two exposures. I do fiddle with HDR from time to time, when I feel it's the only option for getting the shot. I'll try to post one such image in the next few days.
