Rough-legged Buzzard
This year seems to be the best in many years for Roughies at my home-turf. Last week I counted 12 (10 youngsters and two adults) in my local area. I have got loads of close shots of them against blue sky both hunting and perched, so I got really happy when I finally got a serie where it's hunting with a different backgrund.

1D MarkIII + 500/4; iso400, f5.6, 1/640.

I think this is wonderful Helge it has loads of atmosphere and such a beautiful buzzard. I much much prefer this sort of background to a uniform blue sky. :toast: :toast:

Lovely shot! I agree about the background too. I like the way the light is catching the wing. Now if only he had turned to look at you...

Beautiful looking bird and like you say Helge it's nice to see some of the birds natural environment rather than the usual blue sky for a backdrop.
Well taken shot :toast: :toast:

Nice one Helge. You don't see many shots of these birds.

Like this a lot Helge, the dark background works well and the lighting on the lower wing edges helps it stand out

I like the V position of the wings and the head looking down.

Great habitat shot Helge :toast:

Perhaps reduce the vertical lines behind the bird in the BG might help?
