Well done to capture it Dave but it looks a touch soft to me. From what I can tell on my monitor the focus is at the tip of the beak and dosen't extend far enough back.

Hi Dave,
Nice capture of a skittish bird! I agree with Robert about it appearing a touch soft!

Lovely bird and well caught but afraid does look a little soft. Better than I've ever managed though

Missed you somehow, Mark Green and myself were there as well, but it flatly refused to visit our side of the pool while we were there. Just seeing it was a first for me, so I was very happy. Of course I would have been even happier if I had managed one like this. Another day maybe. Eric
Needs the point of focus more on the eye me thinks but still a nice shot, perhaps a crop on the right to increase the emphasis on the Bittern, but all that being said, you have caught/shown the Bittern nicely in its habitat.

not quite sure I like the square crop, but that's just a personal thing. Other than that all nits mentioned for me, bit more PP and it could work quite well !

Was this the early bird or the later one (after I arrived)? Looks a touch blueish for me if it was the later one.
