Moorhen on Ice
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4, 1/800s, iso 400

My local pond gets ideal conditions at this time of year, when the sun is low behind your back. Even better, it was frozen over today. It's the first time I've seen a moorhen like this!

I also found some stonechat which I hadn't seen there before.

Thats nice ! Just a tad of gamma on the bird especially the head migh help a bit . No big deal though.

Thats a lovely shot.
The background feels warm and the ice says otherwise.

Hi Ian,

This is a bit special. Everything has come together to make a stunning shot. Light, composition, colours, background, subject. All very nice.

Great work, thanks for sharing

Ditto all the above - the comp, light and timing on this are just right.

Just goes to prove you dont need rare or exotic wildlife to make a superb shot. This would make a great magazine cover....

Ian
The suggestion to drop the gamma on the head was just my personal opinion.

Oh... wonderful - on this monitor ( it is colour calibrated) I would be tempted to back on the red on the side of it's head ever so slightly.
