Bittern
1DII, 500/4 + 1.4x, ISO200, 1/250s @ f/5.6, ev -1/3.
Handheld leaning over Tom's shoulder.
Minor levels, resize + sharpening.

Yep, another .

Nice to meet everyone at Potteric today - and the Bittern even came out to play too... not quite tap-dancing in the reed bed, but I'll take what it gives . Same bird as Dave's. Watched a 2nd Bittern going for a swim later too - think they're better fliers than swimmers .

Nice shot, you have caught/shown the Bittern nicely in its habitat.

That's great - a classic bittern in reeds.

Were you using Tom as a hide or a support? whatever it was it worked!

Great shot Nick, nice light too :toast:

Hand held I assume, based on where you had positioned yourself

Hi Nick,

Very nicely done! Love these skittish birds yet don't have any over here!

Nick,

Excellent shot of Bittern, nicely framed by the shorter reeds in the FG.

Classic bittern pose and I like the way the reeds seem to be cropped short in the foreground, midlength behind the bittern and then full height in the background.
