.........and a some Katrina ruins. I don't know about you folks, but I try to see beauty in everything, even disaster.

It's so peaceful isn't it? I'd crop a little off the bottom to lower the pole on the rt side a little bit more.

Thanks Leann, that is a good idea about the cropping, and I see it now that i've scaled the picture down small enough to post here, but as a larger photo, the reflection of the post in the shallow water added a nice touch.

I also like this photograph, but I think Leann brings up a good point, albeit perhaps for an additional reason. In our workshops, we always remind people to remember what attracted them to the scene and make sure that is the only subject in the image. It could be light; it could be contrast; it could be color; it could be a thing. Then, we help our students to simplify and isolate that subject.

While your reflection is nice down in the lower right corner, is that really where you want your viewers' eyes to go? Is that really your subject? Is that what really attracted you to the scene?

I am not the photographer, of course, so this is only one opinion, but what I find interesting about your shot is the texture in the water leading out to the pilings and sky.

That said, I would make one more suggestion, and that is to saturate the sky a tad. Right now, it is so pale against the water that the water overwhelms it.

That said, I think you have made a lovely photo. These are just suggestions that I think will make it even better.

Take care,
