Goldfinch + Repost
Canon EOS 1Ds MK II, 600mm f4 IS, 1.4x conv, f8, 1/1000, ISO 320, Bean bag on car window ledge.

Hi All,

Firstly thankyou all very much for your kind comments on my last couple of posts.

Had a spare hour this morning so popped upto to my site, a female Sparrowhawk was being very active, she caught a Sky Lark but was hassled by Rooks on the deck and she give it up, I have some shots but they are fairly distant record shots more than anything!! She then spent some time chasing Corn Buntings, Yellowhammers and Goldfinches, thrilling to watch

I'm pleased to have some Goldfinch images now on file as they don't visit my garden and always found them a bit jumpy.

All comments welcome

Regards

Rob

Nice shot Rob, especially on the thistle, but would be tempted to loose the branches on the r/h side :toast:

Hi Rob,

Fantastic image! Love it! I don't have 17 visiting like Steve but have recorded 6 at anyone time so far on the thistle seeds and black sunflower seeds.

Wow, perfect work Rob. Very clean, sharp, brilliant.
I have a flock of them near where I live. No idea to bring them in front of my glass. :frown:

like the second version much better, great colours and the glint in the eye just makes it :toast:

Fantastic colours Rob and the finch really jumps out from the background and as the perch is similar in colour it doesn't intrude leaving you to enjoy its shape. Agree better without the bits on the right hand side

Great image Rob,

The clean background really makes the subject stand out.

I think a little more of the perch in the frame would top the image off for me.

A really nice Goldfinch photo. Lovely background which to me makes the photo.

Lovely light, perfect exposure and background. I agree a little more of that very nice perch would be good.

Lovely Rob. Cloning the stray foliage out is a definite improvement.
I wish they didn't come in our garden sometimes, they are eating me out of house and home.
Bertl - they absolutely love niger seed. Try it , I can't imagine it not working.

Hi Rob,

Second version does the trick - a classic shot well executed.
