SO ive got something like 9 days off xmas week with plenty of time to drive around from Colorado springs
Was hoping for some suggestions from those who have been able to shoot in late December on where i should be looking at?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

If I had 9 days off around Christmas, and time to drive, I would head south west. Utah and Arizona especially. Unless you like the cold. Then Yellowstone would be high on my list.

Come to NM!
Taos and Santa Fe are very nice around the plazas--especially with a fresh snowfall.
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks is nice year-round (just south of Santa Fe).
Chaco Canyon photographs well in the winter and Bisti and Shiprock are nearby.
Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch are also nice places to shoot in winter (red/yellow rocks).

I have been to Moab, Zion, and the Page area during the week between Christmas and New Years and have had a great time, no crowds and decent temperatures during the day.

Death Valley / Eastern Sierras.
Maybe I'm biased cause that's where I'll be

Could be. But isn't this the time of peak visitation at Death Valley? I was there once in Feb and couldn't get a camping spot because there were so many people there!
