Canon EOS 1Ds MK II, 600mm f4 IS, 1.4x conv, f8, 1/1000, ISO 320, Bean bag on car window ledge, annoying bits on the edge cloned!!
Hi All,
Thanks for your kind comments on my previous Goldfinch posting, very much appreciated
A couple of you asked for a bit more of the perch, well, when he/she began to feed I turned the camera to portrait to show more of what it was feeding on. Another two did turn up briefly until the Sparrowhawk flew by! About 3 or 4 weeks ago the entire airfield site was covered in tall weeds like this and there was a flock of about 1000 Goldfinches, this site has now sadly been cut and started to be ploughed for Sugarbeet, but there are still some "islands" left on the old taxi ways that hold about 30 of these, in small groups and it's these island and edges where I can get close to them and the other species.
If any of you are over this way over the Xmas break get in touch and I would love to spend the day with you there
All comments welcome
Regards
Rob

Yes - the additional perch makes a difference. This is beautiful - what a background! You might wish to lose the extra bits on the right again.

Yep, another cracking shot Rob. I bet this looks tremendous as a full sized print - oodles of detail.

Fantastic Rob,
Really like context the perch gives to the image.

Great clarity again Rob - lovely shot
Might be tempted to remove the OoF thistle bottom right and I find the crop a bit 'awkward' but with more empty space above it would make a nice cover
