Hello all it's Brenden
I had promised to update everybody from the road, but everything went a little crazy when we left Louisiana for our 2 year photo tour. I will spare you all the details, lets just say it was a test of family and spirit. I will give you a brief rundown on some of the tragedies if you will.
1. 3 Flat tires(Different times and 2 in middle of nowhere)
2. 3 times running out of gas(All in bad spots LOL)
3. 1 RV Wrecked and stuck in San Fransisco for 30 days.
4. 1 wrong turn onto a road that turn very quickly into one way MUD road with know where to turn around an F350 Super Cab towing 34 Foot 5Th wheel.
5. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and did I say rain on time rain for 2 weeks 24 hours a day for 2 weeks!!!!!!! I was batty !!!!
6. Lost our 10 foot trailer in a snow storm doing 55mph when welding broke on hitch assembly. We were lucky that it didn't hit anyone on the road. It came to rest about 20 feet from going over a 1000 foot cliff.
7. 1 Pipes frozen and one cracked in RV
8. 1 Ran out of money by the middle of the month in the Yukon, Canada do to the $7.00 a gallon gas at the time.
9. 0 is the number of sewage dumps open between Seattle, Washington and Tok, Alaska.(Thank God for the RV site we got stuck at for half a month having showers and Restrooms)
Well i am sure I bored you thus far, so here is the CURRENT situation and plan. We are living in Homer, Alaska and yes we are official residents of the state now. And because of being on the fixed income my wife has taken a job here and we are saying up the money to return to the lower 48 next summer to my beloved Colorado.
As many of you probably know Homer is where Miss Jeanne(The Eagle Lady) lives and she has just 1 year left that she can feed them under a law that was passed about feeding the eagles. Around town here people were wondering if she was going to do it, because of her health and she just got out of the hospital last month. Well it just so happens that my wife works with a guy that knows her well and worked in the cannery with her. Hopefully if everything goes well he is going to get me into the feeding area. I think this will be a wonderful opportunity for me. There is a lot more to tell but I will be posting pictures into my gallery ASAP. My hopes are to have a ton uploaded by the first of the year.
If anyone is planning a trip or has every thought of coming to see the eagle lady now is the time. And if anyone is coming this way please give me a call or send me an email and I can show you around.
I hope everybody is doing well, and keep shooting

Hmmmmm...and I was thinking about traveling next year! That i sounds like some adventure Brenden. I can't wait to see some of your images from our northernmost state. It's always been a dream of mine to go to Alaska.

That's quite an adventure, Brenden! If I ever get to Alaska, I think I will take a boat or plane.
Hope your return trip is less eventful - at least the gas prices should be less.
I'm looking forward to seeing your pix of the eagles.

I hope you get inside her little feeding area, it's only large enough for about 4-5 photographers, plus Jeanne. The shooting angles are much better than sitting in a car or van next to her place. Keep in mind she is quite open to donations since the money for feed comes out of her social security check. The place she gets her feed from used to provide it free, but now the fish remnants are being used as bait by the commercial fishermen. She also appreciates help in cleaning the feeding area occasionally due to the build up of bones, etc. Volunteering to do things like raking up bones, and cutting up fish for the next day is what got me in each time I've been there.
Homer is a really neat place but it can get boring at night so make sure you get a TV with cable hook-up, although you will probably spend many hours processing images on your computer.
I've been thinking of making another trip up there in late Feb., but haven't made any concrete plans.

Sounds like a "unique" experience to say the least. Hope you are at least getting some good photos out of it though. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming posts. I second Mel in saying: "hope you guys make it home safe."
