Bear Lake Sunset in October
I've been lurking around the Nature Photographers site for about a year now and have finally paid up. I'm located in East Tennessee but it seems like I take most of my shots in other parts of the country, as evidenced by my first official post with a photo.

This was taken while visiting RMNP back in October. We had gotten up for sunrise several mornings without much luck and stayed out for sunset on this evening. The wind was fierce and the temps pretty cold, but this was worth the wait.

I'm still pretty new at this and welcome any feedback I can get.

I've got one or two others from RMNP I'll post here in the next few days. It was a great trip!

Welcome, Richard! Great first post. I've seen a lot of shots around Bear Lake, but I don't think I've seen a nice sunset shot like this. Love the color in the clouds. Can't wait to see some of the other shots!

Incredible clouds Richard! I love the reflection too. The overall foreground is pretty distracting to me, but short of some heavy PS work I'm not sure what you could do about it. Welcome to NPN! I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Richard, I really, really like this. great colour. I don't know what editing software you use, but PS has a shadow/highlight tool that may help trememdously with giving more defination in the trees and fg without altering the sunrise. The composition is great.

Kingsport! Holy moly. Welcome, Richard. I spent a few weeks in Kingsport doing some contracting for Eastman Chemical way back. The town has an interesting smell. But awesome barbecue.

Tremendous color in those clouds, Richard! Heck of a first photo in the forum. This is a prime example of a scene that would work well as an HDR image to show definition in the trees and more in the mountains.

Welcome to the forum. I look forward to your participation here! :toast:
