The sky broke and exploded with color after one of the first snow falls a few weeks back. I raced home from work and scrambled to find any fg to shoot with the wonderful colors overhead. I found this little spot near my home and quickly shot before the colors faded.
Wish I would have had more time to find a better location.

Kevin, the colors are brighter in shot 1 but I like the composition of shot 2 better. It draws my eye into the picture more. Good work!
I agree with Louis. The light is spectacular in the first frame, but the comp in the second is really strong (love that tree "echo"...it's something I do myself quite a bit). Both shots are very nice as presented...the second shot, with the comparatively flat light, actually brings out the scene's starkness very well. However, the second frame's comp with the first shot's light...that would be exalted portfolio material, IMO.

I agree on the comp of the second shot, unfortunately the light didn't last long enough for me ot get it. I was lucky to get anything with those clouds in the first shot, they vanished shortly after that shot. Next time I will remember the location of these trees...
Thanks for looking.

Kevin, both of these are very strong images with great color and light. Which composition? I think the second one is stronger as presented, but the first image has more impact if you reduce the blues at the top of the frame. I used my browser to scroll up and crop the top of the first image and was surprised at the difference. It puts the tree center far right and makes the FG grasses and warm clouds above the stars of the show. Just a thought from a delighted observer of these beauties.

I like the colors on the first shot and the comp on the last shot.

I like both of them but what draws me to the second image is the less saturated blue sky and the snow on the tree trunks. Good eye, Kevin.
