I want to give my in-laws a digital photo frame for Christmas. I thought I had a good one -- the Sony DPF-D70, 7" Digital Picture Frame -- $119 on Amazon. But some of the reviews on Amazon claim you can't upload photos that have been edited in Photoshop -- that would be every one of mine.
So -- does anyone have experience with this Sony or can you recommend another alternative (needs to be reasonably priced)?
My in-laws will not want to fiddle with software that almost works so the frame needs to just sit there and show photos once its been loaded.
Many thanks.

Looks like an interesting frame, so I dove into the customer reviews.
The couple of folks who complained about the lack of support for PS edited images all received responses ("comments") from others that they needed to keep the file size small and to use the 'Save for Web & Devices' feature to ensure compatibilty. The responders all said they had no problems with the edited images when those steps were followed.

Thanks John -- I hadn't noticed the comments on Amazon. But I figured the problem was something like that -- now all my experience resizing photos for this site will come in handy!

Hi
I just bought the same frame Sony D70. To test I loaded jpegs that I use for my iPhoto application. They were processed in LR and CS with all sorts of correction. All the images were in the range of 300-600K with the long side ~1000 pix. It just worked fine. Excellent resolution from all angles and really neat. Very simple interface, i think it is an excellent buy.
Happy Holidays...

Piggybacking on this.... I wonder if there are any frames anyone here has tried that hold a ton of photos w/o all that resizing. That's the part that makes me crazy.... I have to pull stuff into PS to resize it for so many different web uses & etc. & then I just don't get it done. I'd love to be able to just pull hundreds of photos out of my folders on my computer & just put them on the digital frame as-is. My normal, unedited shots are 3264 X 2448 and maybe 3 to 10 MB. Are there any frames that you know of which would hold enough (hundreds or thousands of pix) & look good enough to make it worthwhile? Also, how do you get pix from computer to frame? Does it vary, and is it simple? Thanks for any tips! --Anna Lisa

Anna Lisa,
You might consider creating actions for your various resize needs. I've made actions for example that resize, convert the image into sRGB, convert the image to 8 bit, sharpen and "save as" into a particular folder.
Then with one click of the action, it performs all those steps and I'm done!.
Try these guys. They are not cheap; but they do what the others don't - by far...like update wirelessly from anywhere.

Here is one customer statement:
“We received the PhotoVu Picture Frame from our children for our 35th wedding anniversary. My wife said this is the best gift she has ever received. The kids surprised us with this gift, along with a digital refurbished image of our wedding portrait. They also had scanned in some family photos from their childhood. What a wonderful way to remember those days. We mounted the Picture Frame in our family room and can view it from the Kitchen. We never get tired of seeing the pictures of family, friends and vacation pictures. We now have over 3500 pictures being displayed. Thanks PhotoVu for such a great product!”
One of these just might suit your needs...no, I do not work for them.

Troup -- thanks but when you said not cheap you weren't kidding. The frame I just bought -- the Sony -- was $119 -- and that's a little above my budget.

Or better yet, a droplet. Then you can just drop a whole directory full of files into it and have it do everything you need.
David or Mel-- Thanks for the suggestions. There's still a lot of PS I'm totally clueless about.. never had a course. I just learn piecemeal the tools I need. Can you recommend an online or other source that would teach me how to do these things (creating droplets or actions)? I need very very basic step-by-step specifics. Most instructions I've found are much too vague for me. I need blow-by-blow accounts. I have Photoshop for Dummies, although it's temporarily in the black hole of my house, so I don't know if this is covered in detail in there. Thanks. --Anna Lisa
