Brown Bear at Dusk
Absolutely amazing experience. I even start to like the mosquitos  I came across this image while cleaning up the hard drive.
I think there's a bit of flare visible but hey...Can't have it all

iso 400 1/200 sec. F8

Very nice indeed but I'm afraid that lens flare doesn't quite do it for me.. I think it would have more impact had it not been so direct into the sun and the 'flare bands' were not straight across its face IMHO..

Thanks guys,

I know about the flare but there was nothing I could do about it. Impossible to move the hide and I'm not, repeating NOT coming out of that hide to get a better angle:)

Fantastic - simple as that

Very nice Edwin and I really like the steaming breath. Only nit is that given the shooting angle the face is quite dark and you lose the engagement with the bear's eyes. Worth lightening the face a bit or would this be impossible to balance with the rest of the image? (probably beyond my processing skills!)

Its a terrific shot Edwin. :toast: :toast:

But I think its not quite showing its best yet. The flare on the left is just a bit excessive, taking a bit of the orange colours out and increasing the contrast a little in the flared area with a soft edge. This would retain most of the flare effect which is part of the atmosphere of the shot but just add a little bit more definition to the flared area.

I think you have to accept that the flare is just a fact of life, and I wouldn't have got out of the hide to change angle either! Great shot, with wonderful atmosphere.
