Cracking pose John, he's on full flaps there! Your old reflection bugbear rears its head - just wonder if a bit more off the bottom to take out the brighter reflections might be worthwhile?

Very nice shot, John  I think this heron is checking the water temperature with its toes

Thanks both.
Magnus - I know- I nearly mentioned that !
Would be quire easy to darken it though.(Reflections should be illegal ! )

One of the best heron photos I have seen here in this forum.
Very good timing John :toast: :toast:

Tempting to make some comment about 'well exposed' but it's a bit obvious. :jump:

Very nice timing John.

Terrific shot, John.
I shot a lot of herons (they are rather common overhere), but this one is excellent.

As for the timing - continuous shooting helps a lot !

Continuous may help John but you still have to react to the birds appearance so its well timed from me.

Made me laugh! Apart from that though, it is a very very good image and I agree about the timing. I think the reflection is fine. Also good sharpness for 1/200s.
