With 5+ days of clouds & rain in the forecast I jumped on the chance to take the family on a hike when I saw a bit of clearing sky. So we headed over to Point Lobos. It turned out to be a gorgeous, crisp, clear morning - the type of of day that reminds me why we moved here. Here are a some of the shots:
Compositionally I like the other a bit better. But I really needed to go wider here and didn't have my 17-40L with me. My wife wants me to have 'something' to open for Christmas since the 5DII is out of the box and 'not' going back in.
I didn't realize Adams and Weston used to photograph here all the time unil doing some recent research on the place.
Derek, not sure if this is one you wanted to present, but I found & liked #73's composition the best. Not sure if some of the shadow could still be lifted, but a very nice scene as is too.

Thanks Paul,
This was actually from another day last week at sunset. I was undecided on it so I didn't post it yet. The dynamic range was extreme. It is a blend of two shoots. It was almost dark. So I am not sure how much I can pull out of the shadows.

Derek,
#88 is my favorite, but I wish the left most seastack was not so close to the photo edge.

Thanks Youssef,
That was actually a long exposure (10 minute) shot I just took last night. See my recent thread on the Perigee moon.
I agree with you on the comp. It is a little tight. The widest lens I have currently is the Contax Zeiss 35-70mm. Santa is holding my new 17-40L hostage until Christmas.

82 and 86 catch my eye. Looks like a great place to shoot with lots of photographic possibilities.

Derek,
If Santa lets you get out with the 17-40 before Christmas, be sure to give him some extra cookies. I am expecting a lump of coal myself, but maybe some coaxing will get me that 45mm TS-E lens I've been begging for heh.
Cheers

#80 was shot at the furthest western tip in the park - Pinnacle Cove. There were huge waves coming in here and crashing on the rocks. Here is another with more wave action:
