Does anyone know of a place I can go, within about 150 miles of Ellijay, GA (about 100 miles due north of Atlanta, 30 miles south of the Tenn/NC border) to have access to and find a reliable (reliable, in this context, meaning that the birds are usually there every day)supply of wading birds to photograph.

All the major lakes around here have steep bottoms and very little in the way of shallows and/or seem to have no birds.

I went to the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, AL today, but struck out (220 miles one way). No birds. Maybe I was just in the wrong place, or there too early in the Winter. I was there in early January last Winter, but experienced equipment failure early in the day, so didn't get any pictures then.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
