I shot this a few days ago at a local park. I was in cabin fever mode and needed to get out and shoot. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I was very drawn to the way this leaf had curled up like a scroll in several places. I tried several in the tree it was hanging in, then tossed it on the ground and shot directly from above. I pushed the highlight slider to bring out the details in the snow. I've been developing a series of 'single leaf' shots and wonder if this should make the cut. Thanks for looking and I welcome comments.

The curls and other details are quite interesting, Brian.

Good details in the leaf, Brian. These kind of compositions are always intriguing!

Brian, this is a very interesting shot. The shadow underneath gives the impression this leaf is floating above the snow! The details in the leaf are sharp to the eye. I might try and zoom out on this just a hair to not have the leaf quite so centered in the frame just to see how that looked too! Nice image!

Thanks for the comments. As always, they are much appreciated and very helpful! Mitch, I agree with you completely and even tried what you suggested, as the image here suggests. Unfortunately, I stopped down too far (f14) and lost the corner to corner sharpness I needed. Photographer error! I also ended up liking the downward angle of the stem in the OP and the overall sharpness won me over, even tho it was a little tight as you mentioned.
I prefer the cooler color balance in the second (something you can adjust in your initial post), as it creates a better balance between the warm colored leaf and the snow. Nice find Brian.
