I was going to Garden of the Gods yesterday morning but had missed the sunrise by about 10 minutes. I stopped off the side of I 25 for this shot, I loved the lighting on Pikes Peak that I couldn't resist stopping along side of traffic going 80 miles an hour to get a couple of photos.
Anyone going south bound on I-25 just north of Colorado Springs maybe a mile or two south of the North Academy Blvd around 7 am probably saw me
I realize there is alot of noise on the photo, I somehow bumped the ISO on my camera to 1600 and didn't realize it, I took all my photos yesterday at 1600. I did send it through a noise filter but I notice there is still noise there

Neat, Paul! What you needed though was a 500mm to focus on the top of the peak!

Great light and clouds hugging Pikes Peak!. I may be tempted to crop to a pano format, lose some of the sky and foreground!.

Love the light and clouds! Bummer about the noise... I hate it when I do that!

I'm with Nick on this one, I think it would look better in a pano format with less sky and forground (open pit mine).

I've never seen the gravel quarry look better!

Yes also known as "The Scar". That and all the urban sprawl is what has kept most of us from shooting from this location I think.

Apparently there was a big slide in the scar a couple weeks ago. Its very visible in this image. Shame about the high ISO. I've had that happen to me as well.
