1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4, 1/200s, f6.3, iso 800.
Having never knowingly seen one of these before, I was excited when my neighbour took the trouble to phone me to tell me a flock had landed on her rowan tree. I was upside down in a cupboard with tools at the time. Narrowly escaping injury, I was there in a shot. She didn't tell me it was raining and truly horrible though! The original backgound was clinically white and I just had to add a hint of colour - never done that before and not sure if it works. The bird is a little soggy as you can see from the crest. Good news is they have left some berries for next time
Well worth the effort you put in Ian. Considering the conditions this looks pretty good although a catchlight in the eye would have lifted it. I've never seen one of these birds.

Hi Ian, pretty good considering the dire conditions. It does benefit from the hint of colour in the background. My local waxwings are currently hiding from me.

I like the shot Ian but am still in two minds about the BG colour. Before I read your notes I wondered if there was a bit of a pink cast to the shot but know why you've made the adjustments.
Do like the berries - it almost looks like they're colour has run in the rain!
