It's a long way from the Rocky Mountains, so I hope you don't mind this post. Fall has finally arrived in San Antonio! This is an image of the maple tree in our back yard. Canon EOS 30D, Tokina 100mm macro lens, about 1/60 sec at f/4, ISO 400.

Erik, I really like the composition but it looks like it could use a bit of sharpening. Have you made it to Lost Maples State Park this season? I lived in Boerne and NW SA for 12 years and loved to visit Lost Maples. I wish I had been into photography back then.
I took a look at your website. I love your shots from Enchanted Rock!

D'oh! Forgot to sharpen it. I realize that the shallow depth of field probably also contributes to the apparent lack of sharpness.
Lost Maples had a really colorful fall this year - you're right, it's a great place to visit. Unfortunately, we were only able to make it out one time, and the light was extremely harsh and it was quite windy. So while we had a great time, I didn't take any decent photos.
Yes, Enchanted Rock is probably my favorite place to go. I actually grew up on an adjoining ranch, so it almost seems like "going home." I've spend many enjoyable hours there - it's a great place to "decompress" from the stress of the big city. Glad you liked 'em.

It doesnt need sharpening IMO, it needs more contrast and some noise reduction (chromatic). But the comp and colors are outstanding!
