In the mood to scan
Well, I'm FINALLY getting some scanning and processing done. I've got about 20 sheets of 4x5 scanned, these are the first ones worked to the initial print stage.

This is the lighthouse at Heceta Head, Oregon, taken back in April.

As always, critique is welcome.

The same Oregon trip, I spent a sunrise shooting at a Tulip farm. I love flowers as a subject and had to drag myself away to keep on my intenerary.

White Tulip bathed in early light.

A little broader view across the tulip field. These are pretty cool at full resolution. The dew drops are sweet.

The first Tetons sheet processed, from my fall trip, with a great gang of guys (and gals).

This was taken at sunrise at a lesser known location along the Snake River.

Pano version of the above. I think I prefer this crop.

All of these sheets are Velvia 50 and needed little to no color work, mostly dust cleanup, and little contrast boost and sharpening on the Teton's shot. I'm enjoying the Velvia 50.

Nice work! I especially liked your Teton's image. I agree with you, I like the cropped version better. Great composition with the placement of the lake.

Great stuff Kalin. The details in the white on the tulip are great. The tetons shot is really nice as well.

Velvia has always had that extra punch to colors, and you have that in all of these shots. They are all excellent. Wonderful detail. I like the dew drops on the flowers, and the pano.

All these images are looking pretty good Kalin, but #2 and the Teton's Pano are my favourites!. Beautiful velvia colours in them all!.

I agree, cropping the Tetons really improves the composition.

I'm sure the small jpeg just doesn't do justice to the field of tulips.
What dew drops!

Pretty, Kalin--i love the Teton pano especially. Remove the dust spot or bird in the lighthouse and its a winner too!

Kalin, I really love the lighthouse shot! Great vantage point that I haven't seen before. I'm heading to Oregon myself in April or May. I've been checking out your website occasionally looking for some shots from your Oregon trip. Would you mind if I email you a few questions about your trip?

The tulip shots are great but they seem a little dark on my monitor. I much prefer the pano of the Tetons.
Great shots all around.

Funny, Stan. I was waiting for someone to say something. I almost mentioned the specs in my original post. In the light house shot there is a bird on the rock, just below the one flying. There is also a sail boat just below the sun. The resolution of the jpeg renders these in 1-2 pixels but when printed large you can see what they are. I did clean up some birds that just looked like dust.

Laurie, drop me a note, I'll tell you what I can about where I've been in Or.

Thanks for the comments so far, everyone!

Really dig the comp on the Heceta Head shot. I'm looking forward to heading back to the Oregon Coast myself (I was there back in October). It would definitely be nice to see more of what you have posted. The tulip shots are a little contrasty, but I think they are still effective since the light looks like it was pretty low when these were shot. I also like the cropped version of the Tetons.

20 sheets scanned, eh? Must be too cold to do anything else!

I'm diggin' the first and last shots - very very nice.

Nice to see you workin again. I am still on the road finishing up 3 weeks straight and really looking forward to getting back to Denver.

Make sure to bring the originals to the shindig.

Nicely done Kalin,
#1 and #5 are my fav's here. Glad to hear you are starting to get caught up on your processing. I wish I could say the same, I hope to try and catch up myself over the holidays.
