An Apple a day !
This is two minutes in the life of a Newton Wonder apple today.
I have spent a lot of time this last week on the apple tree with some great results. I thought this was interesting. The Fieldfare landed, and was pushed off by the Jackdaw which was then pushed off by the magpie. All in two minutes. Later a Green Woody came into a different apple . Great stuff.
There must be some goodnesss in them judging by the birds eating them. The total now in two weeks is 13 species !
Cheers

The 14th species for me John would be that of some young lad trying to pitch the apple

Great work showing what seems to be a very busy apple tree :toast: :toast:

Thanks both.
Obviously they look a bit better normal size. Exposure for the thee birds in quick succession caused a few headaches ( for me anyway -pressed wrong buttons etc,)

John, same comments as Rob really.. You did well to control for all those exposures and I'm sure they all look as good in the 'raw'.. You really are making the most of this hard start to the winter.. Nice work.

It must be the proper apples that does it. I couldn't imagine any self-respecting British bird queuing up for a peck at a Granny Smith

Newton Wonder apple was awarded a FCC by the RHS in 1887 see

An excellent dual purpose apple, the birds must have discerning tastes.
Really interesting images.

Nice story and good to hear the site is doing well. Sounds like you're in need of a thick Christmas jumper to keep you warm out there
