It's hard to believe - another year of world-class nature photography has come and gone!
Congratulations to Andrea Marzaroti (Avian), Steve Sieren (ESS), Jagdeep Rajput (Fauna), Pat Sampson (Flora), Sandra Hendrikse (M/CU), David Mark (M&N), Dethan Punalar (PA) and Fred Thompson (WC #361 - "One Photo") for their having their photos selected as the final picks of 2008!
We will now take a break from the Weekly Picks until January 5 when the first picks of '09 will be announced. All photos posted between now, Dec. 15 and Saturday, January 3 '09 will be eligible for the first picks of '09. The NPN staff will now "pick the best of '08" from the WP Gallery and the 2008 Editor's Pick Awards winners will be announced in the January issue.
Our sincere thanks to all NPN members for posting your nature photos here on NPN and for making this such a great place to share our passion for nature photography!
Special thanks to the NPN moderators who take the time and effort each week to watch over their respective galleries and make the tough choices on the weekly picks. With the level of talent posting on this site, it's a very tough job indeed to pick just one.
Once again, thanks to all for your participation and here's to another year of truly outstanding nature photography in 2009!
I raise my glass (of wine) to the moderators for all their efforts. Congratulations also to those who won this week and throughout the year. Good luck on the yearly challenge! It won't be an easy choice
