Surreal Earthsacpe
This was shot in Yellowstone a few weeks ago at Mammoth Hot Springs. The light co operated to make this work for me. Best of all the park was practically empty, but cold.
Nikon D700, Nikon 28-70, Tripod, etc. no filtration.

I could stare at that all day. "Surreal" is a good word for it. Nice!

Surreal was definitely the right choice of word! Fantastic shot.
PS: how does your 28-70 perform on the D700. I got one for my D200 in view of getting a full frame camera later on and was wondering how it holds up.

Younes,
The 28-70 is a great & very sharp lens. The new 24-70 however would make more sense for those who either can afford to sell the 28-70 ( or need to--I don't) our those who don't already own either one. The new 24-70 is supposed to be a tad sharper. The real advantage is it is considerably lighter than the 28-70. For me though I'm very pleased with the 28-70. Yes its heavy, but I can't rationalize the extra $$ right now.

Real nice and moody shot Jack. It has an eerie feel to it. BTW, I love my 28-70 also. It's a real tank but boy is it sharp. I use it for about 80% of my shooting.

Jack! What a wonderful shot. The atmosphere really gave you a fantastic look with which to create an ethereal mood. It's transfixing-- could just watch it all day, as if I expect the clouds to lift and drop and float around. Very cool. Glad you put up on the board to share with us.
