My wife has a Mac Mini hooked up to a Dell Monitor. It has worked great for over a year and then today - all of a sudden - the monitor has a blue cast over all of it. Nothing has been changed as far as settings or anything else. The screen appears as though the entire thing has been "highlighted" for copy. Nothing seems to help and we have tried to restore factory settings etc. We have also tried turning it off and letting it set for a time, but nothing seems to help.

I looked at Dells support site and it makes about as much sense as my dog.

Is it time for a new monitor - or does anyone have any suggestions ???

Can you connect the monitor to a different PC? That may be worth a try to diagnose the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion Jim - but I have an I-MAC and we don't have a stand alone in the house. We got rid of the towers when we switched to Apple.

I've encountered a similar problem in the past (it was a pink cast). The fix was as simple as checking the cables and connections, which had somehow come loose.

Go into systems preferences and select display settings. Click on the color tab in the display window. I would guess you are using the Adobe RGB profile which produces a blue cast on my MBP. Use color lcd if that looks correct or calibrate a new profile.

If your iMac has a video out port (you may need a dongle/adapter for it), connect the monitor to it. If the Dell display blue, then it's the monitor, if not, then there is something wrong with the Mini (either hardware or software).

I had a magenta cast on my monitor. Replacing the cable fixed the problem.

Thank you all for the suggestions. My wife thanks you and has promised me that the next time she decides to clean up the clutter of wires on her desk- she WILL NOT pull and tug on the wires to hide them from view. I am trying to convince her that wires on a comuter desk are normal....

I totally disconnected the monitor and then reconnected it and all is well in the Cook House.

Thanks again..

Merle, good to hear! Easy, inexpensive (or even free) repairs always make my day too.
