Mistle Thrush No 2 + hide !
Mistle Thrush
Finally got a better side view than the first, after a lot of hide hours.Had to replace the mistletoe with fresh bunches. Could keep him there all Winter (at a price ! )
They used this in the Express yesterday but it didn't really do the shot justice - the monochrome didn't help !
Had some great times with the Green woody and Fieldfares on the apples again this past few days.

Great shot there John, super detail throughout and the whole scene works well. Congrats on the publication even if you were not happy with the processing  The time you spend in the hide is worth every minute for the catalogue of images you are getting.. :toast:

Kind regards,

Brett

Excellent shot, well worth the wait and the expense if you had to purchase the mistletoe.

Hi John :wavey:

Like this it alot! From where I am sitting I think you are feeding these birds a bit to much, this mistle thrush looks enormous

How many hours do you actually spend in the hide, I bet it is more than in the house, isn't it. Have you fitted a Christmas tree in the hide yet

Keep them coming as they are a pleasure to view :toast:

That's a great shot John. A much better use of mistletoe than the traditional one!

Thanks everyone, for taking the time to look and comment.
Ido spend a lot of time in hides I suppose , but I have never had the gear to stalk stuff really.
My greatest pleasure in the photography side is to sit in a hide , one my own somewhere quiet and just wait and see what happens. It can be at the pool or lake or in a wood.If youwait long enough something will happen. Recently at the apple tree site I have been in the hide most days for the past two weeks for about 3 hours.I ambeginning to feel the strain a bit now though. The full day sessions really hurt afterwards.
Planning has a lot to do with it obviously. My wife too is a help after 40 odd years. She says when I,m in a hide i am not bothering her ! I think my final days with a camera when they arrive will be shooting through the room window. ( Or a window in a home somewhere !)
I enclose an idea for a portable hide by the way ( This is a joke ! Some one saw this and asked where they could buy a bin from !!
Thanks again

Brilliant ROFLOL,

I can imagine you calling out to be wheeled to each area you take your images.

If your lucky John I might buy you a pair of 2x2 wheels with an all terrain grip.

Good idea though, I wonder if it will catch on with Warehouse Express

Thanks John for ending my evening like this :toast: :toast:

Great stuff !
Glad there's a sense of humour floating around although it doesn't come out that often>
What the hell is life without it ?

LOL, that's where I'm going wrong - I've got three hides on the driveway and didn't even know it

I think the mods should pull that picture John. If my mrs sees that, it might give her ideas.
I would hope the daily express have re-imbursed you more than the cost of a few bunches of mistletoe! Another fine shot to be jealous of.
