Clearwater photo ops for New Years

I'll be in the Lakeland/Clearwater area between Christmas and New Years and was wondering if there was anything along the coast line during that period. Especially interested in flowers/birds.

Another option is Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, north of Clearwater. Along the coast, owls and osprey nest there. Also, a little south of Clearwater is Fort DeSoto - don't know if you ever look at Arthur Morris' bird photography but a lot is done there. Not sure what will be happening this time of year but may be worth the drive. Lots of wading birds on low tide in the mornings.
