It was a cold morning... w/ B&W version
... when I left the house before dawn on Tuesday. The bone-chilling cold had only been around for a day, and I was surprised how much ice had already formed on the Wenatchee as it flowed past Blackbird Island in Leavenworth. I crunched out to this spot by headlamp, got off a few so-so shots while trying not to think about how cold I was. It's strange how the temperature seems to drop even more just before the sun hits you; or maybe it's just anticipation. This view is looking upriver to Wedge Mountain in the center and, partially obscured on the R side, is the Enchantment Plateau.

Sony R1, 1/160 @ f/8, two exposures w/ different focus points, 24mm.

Very nice. I really like the warm light on the side of the mountains. The cool blue and warm orange tones compliment each other. Still, I wonder if this would work even better in B&W?

Ooh, this does look cold! I too like the light on the mountain sides. I'd like to see this in b/w too...

OK. Here's a B&W version, with a little help from Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks. And I forgot to credit Marc A.'s web sharpening.

I like both versions, perhaps the B&W version a little better. The fog above the water is great.

The B&W version helps mask the "not so interesting sky". The B&W version is the ticket. :toast:

Both versions work Marc, but I slightly prefer the color one. It conveys that sense of bone chilling cold a little better, IMO.

I like the mood of the B&W, but I hate giving up that wonderful glow on the mountain and the plateau section in the TRC.
