That sums up Sunday morning plain and simple. I was out at sunrise to watch the wonderful winter solstice day begin. With the air temp at -1 and the windchill around -15 all was well. The wonderful sunrise shot didn't materialize for me, but had some fun playing around on the ice. I had to hold my breath every time I looked through the view finder because it would freeze instantly to the camera (finally a legitimate use for a camera with live view), and keep rotating batteries from the camera to my pocket for warming, they were only lasting about 5 minutes at a time.
No matter what the circumstances I always find it enjoyable to discover the unique wonders in nature.

Brad - I really like this. Undoubtedly you'll get a lot of questions to explain what it is, but I'm not sure you should! Its interest is in its abstractness - shapes and pattern. Very interesting!

Intriguing abstract, Brad. I just couldn't convince myself to brave the cold yesterday.

Interesting shot! This is something I probably wouldn't have thought to look at, next time I'm out I will pay more attention to the ice, thanks for the inspiration! I was going to go out and try again to get a Solstice shot (since I was out a day early!) but didn't want to face the cold on Sunday.

Cool shot (pun totally intended) The bubbles form a very cool abstract. I wasn't brave enough to face the chill this weekend. Maybe after the first of the year...

Very cool indeed. I like the blue tones and the icy feel to this. Thanks for sharing.
