May I say a very big thank you to everyone who has attempted to guide me in my attempts to improve my hobby. Even though I say it myself I'm making progress. Thus I'm emulating my old school reports "Could do better". When a rank outsider intrudes amongst pros it must be frustrating to some. Nevertheless help critique and advice is always there it makes the forum.
Thank you and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and the best for 2009.

Hi Barry,
Good to see you dusted of the tripod A nice shot of an interesting subject. Shouldn't think that you are rank outsider amongst pro's, I think you will be surprised by the percentage of posters on here that are just serious amateurs and not pro, I certainly don't have the time or skill to be a full time pro !! just a serious hobby for me thats gets into the countryside
Happy Christmas and all the best for 2009
Regards
Rob

Nice shot Barry - difficult to achieve.
I'm in the same category as Rob - serious amateur. It does raise a relevant point though. Both amateurs and professionals enjoy what they do, but the professionals have also to make a living from doing it in an extremely competitive environment. The critical feedback we get is quite superb. I hope that all amateurs will support our professional friends in any way we can!

Hi Barry, I think many of us are in the same boat, keen to develop our photographic skills via peer critique and share a common interest in nature photography with other like-minded folk - a win-win recipe in my book!
Seasons greetings, Cliff

Nice shot Barry - I like the scarring on the moon's surface, makes you imagine the traumatic events it has been through. Definitely in the same boat as you

Hi Barry,
Good shot. What aperture and shutterspeed did you use?
I did some shots myself, but was not very satisfied with the results.
Thanks.

Tom
Sorry I omitted the details woops.
1D3 Canon EF 800mm f/5.6 LIS USM + 1.4x @ 1120mm ISO 800 f/8 1/3200sec as a RAW
Pixel Dimension x:3888 Y:2592 downloaded to Lightroom 2 then re sized in PS.
Taken late afternoon just prior to dusk using a tripod.
I liked the crater definition plus I was somewhat surprised by what appear to be lights. This was a very cold day and well below freezing.
