I took this earlier this year in the spring when I should have been revising for A-Levels kind of regret it now, but at the time it was great fun. This male would hunt early afternoon giving me a great chance to get some shots, this was my favorite. C&C appreciated, but be kind only my second post :).

Hi Liam

Great to have barn owls near you-i am jealous,The image looks abit soft-no doubt due to the 2x,It may just need some extra sharpening to get the best from it, I find the 2x works best on an F4 lens at F11 which normally means a slow shutter speed and the need for a higher ISO, I dont know what your specs are on this
Look forward to more

Dave,

Sorry the exif seems to have gone missing:

1/800s f/5.0 ISO400

It was also a teleplus teleconverter which is really bad, hence why it is a bit soft, at the time I was more interested and excited about getting an in focus photo of a barn owl where it was recognizable .

thanks.

Hi Liam,

I would love to photograph Barn Owls, something I've never managed to do, so I can see why you'd have been excited

I tend to agree with Dave - a nice image but does look a bit soft almost certainly due to the TC.

Nits covered Liam but I like the composition in this highlighting how close to us barn owls live these days whilst keeping the owl in the sky section. The little glance is nice and it has space to fly into

Soft and the bg looks a bit strange, but the comp is nice, the eye contact is good, and its better than anything I have. The great thing about this game is that however good or bad a shot is it is just another step along the path anyway. It would certainly do for me to be going on with.

Thanks a lot for all of the advice it really is appreciated. I have just realized why it is not sharp, I stupidly resized it using a photobucket tool. Here is the original image

Its a thousand times better than the one I posted :(

Thanks.
