Barn Owl
Was up and out at 6.30am this morn with the aim of photographing Barn Owls on a new site, on arrival i set myself down in the grass ...bag hide on and waited for the sun to come up. Just before the sun came up i caught a glipse of 3 barn owls hunting, a marsh harrier and a male hen harrier, luckily true to form the owls hunted until about 9.30am,this individual came to see what i was upto! was after a perched shot but this will have to do for now.

I tried a central crop but it didnt look right

Nikon D2xs
Sigma 500mm
Tripod/bag hide
ISO 400
1/500th @ f6.3
RAW

PP in lightroom and CS3

Thanks for looking

Andy

This is a very nice capture Andy, I like the comp and the illuminated face, excellent dust bunnies as well

Bit of selective sharpening on the face will just make it jump out a bit more Andy IMO
Worth getting up for. :toast:

Good work Andy, Barn Owls are a real treat to see and if I ever get a good in flight shot like this I'll be well pleased.

nice shot and light, and i also feel it could do with a little sharpen on the face :toast:

Nice shot.
Agree with the former speakers about spots and sharpness.

Cracker Andy :wavey:

Dust bunnies and sharpness aside my only nit would be comp - the bird is looking slightly to the left frame edge so it needs to right of the frame center.

Fine BO flight shot though matey

All nits covered Andy but a nice shot. None of these about where I was looking yesterday

Nice shot Andy, the light is brilliant! I agree that the composition is a little off
