This is a shot of a tree I took near sunset on Christmas Evening. I was looking for a "Christmas Tree" type shot and this is all I could find.
I also wanted a sunset shot on Christmas Day. Turns out we did have a fantastic sunset in my neck of the woods, but I was driving trying to find a "better" place to photograph than where I stopped to shoot this tree. If I had just stayed with this tree it would have been perfect. That is a lesson I need to learn...not to try and also find something "better" to photograph but be happy with the what I have in front of me and wait for the light. Of course by driving to find something "better" I ended up missing most of the really great sunset color.

Well you had the snow, tree and sky for your Christmas shot, if only you'd stuck some garland on the tree Scott! Just kidding! I for one have enjoyed having the snow and winter weather around for a change. The thunderstorms, hail and lightning last night were an interesting change for December 27th!

I have to agree with Wayne - Didn't you have some garland, red bulbs etc to hang on the tree while you waited for the sun to go down ???
I've done the same thing. Left a good spot to find a better one and ended up with no good spot. That's how we learn patience. Anyway - I hope to learn patience.

I completely understand where your coming from Scott. I too have been bit by the "find something better bug" only to miss what I had. I think it's somewhat a photographers curse. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. But one things for sure. There's always tomorrow with something new and maybe better!
Wonderful natural scene. Thanks for sharing.
