I'm sure the downrez & jpeg clobbered the detail in this photo, but here is a shot off the back deck of our cabin this morning of a 300'+ or so section of cascade that is probably 500-600' overall. I could see a dozen cascades like this out the window from where I sit at my computer, plus two waterfalls that were pouring over a 100' bluff and then cascading 600' below - didn't have an open view of those to show you. The cascade shown here was taken with a 300 f2.8 on a D3x, and is a cropped section of the overall frame, downrezzed quite a bit. It was a great waterfall day in the area for sure (LOTS of muddy water though), and I expect to see some nice shots posted by you guys. I'll put up one from the Springhouse in Boxley in a little bit.

I was hoping you would post a shot or two from the D3x - pretty nice detail! I hope to get out for a while in the morning - before the sun gets up, of course.

Hi Tim. That's an amazing sight. Thanks for sharing.

Very enlightening shot Tim. I especially like the greens of the downed moss covered trees.

I can see how in periods of heavy rains the major watersheds could rise very quickly with hundreds if not thousands of these cascades feeding them. Thanks for sharing this winter look.
