Potholes
This is a shot take in late September at the mouth of the Presque Isle River in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The water level was the lowest I’ve seen it and the potholes were really on display. There are a few more pictures from my two trips to the Porcupine Mountains this fall the day on my web site

Nice capture, Phil! I think that I've been to this spot before, many years ago, but I don't remember it like this. I always enjoy seeing the layered shales along the shorelines, etc., and really like the layering of the rock here with the water flowing over it, as well as the potholes, water action, etc.

Really nice.

I made it to PMWSP once and found it to be a neat place. The Presque Isle River is a scenic location and I think you got a great capture here. The waters being low really do make a difference.

Nice shot, Phil. I knew this was Presque Isle River immediately. I was there in early October of 2006 and the water level was quite low then as well, exposing the water-carved formations pretty nicely.

Good capture and exposure, Phil...I also enjoyed the series on your web site.

Nice, and I really enjoyed the image gallery you linked. I will say that I think you have stronger compositions of this scene, though I know that wasn't brought up as a question. That particular stretch of river is certainly quite scenic, and I knew it at first glance as well (despite never actually being there). Thanks for sharing these Phil.

I like this one and the others as well.I like the heart shaped white center.

Phil, there is a real dynamic feeling with this composition. I want to see more of this impressive scene. I want to see the rest of the pothole on the left and I also want to see what's above the frame where the leaves are peeking in. But the mystery you've created by leaving these elements out are also what draws me in and keeps me thinking about at the image as is. Very nice.

Beautiful flow through this image, Phil. The detail in the rocks just draws me in.
