For today I got a special permit to move freely between two otters.
I can tell you, they bite.... They took my beanbag apart and almost dragged it on to the ice wich was too thin to carry me. The bit my shoes and got almost bitten in the elbow. But apart from that I love them and it was quite difficult to get a good shot because they move very fast. For just a moment this one sat stil.
I hope you did have a wonderful Christmas.

I always thought otters were shy. My mistake apperently.
Nice shot and compo and good timing.

Nice shot but I think you're very foolish to go into an enclosure with tame Otters that have little fear of humans. They're reckoned to have a more powerful bite than a Rockweiler dog.
Excellent Edwin. I particularly like the use of the portrait format on this one combined with the warm light on the reeds. I don't know the circumstances surrounding your visit and so I assume you were well aware of the pitfalls of being in with these otters but as all mustelids are my favourite branch of the animal world, I too would have jumped at the opportunity you have been given. (just to echo Paul's words about the power of an Otters bite, Terry Nutkin the TV presenter has two fingers missing due to a savage attack by one of Gavin Maxwells, ('Ring of Bright Water') supposedly tame otters). Lovely image.

Risky business mixing it with Otters like that! Nice shot all the same. Cliff

Captive or not, it is a beautiful image. Gorgeous light and the ice is the icing on the cake. But it sounds like it came at a price...
