Spent the day on Saturday playing in the San Juans...mostly in the Silverton/Molas Pass area. While neither sunrise or sunset cooperated (one was clear, the other clouded over), it was a wonderful day nonetheless. One particular highlight was sitting outside my truck eating lunch near Howardsville while listening to the dull roar of distant avalanches. The posted view of Grand Turk was shot from a bit north of Molas Lake while snowshoeing.

Beautiful shot! So how much snow did you guys get? The ski areas were talking 8-12 inches, but the news reports said up to 2 feet!

Thanks Don. The latest storm dumped about 2 feet on both Purgatory and Wolf Creek. Wolf Creek has received close to 9 feet over the last two weeks!

Looks mighty chilly!
I like the snowbanks you included in the foreground. That adds a nice feeling of depth here.
Glad you guys are getting out and about in this record snowfall.
Was this and the terrific snowmobile action shot you posted earlier taken with the G10?

Nice shot! Like the colors and the snow blowing around the mountain.

Nice shot, Guy. This makes me want to get out snowshoeing.

Thanks guys. John, both of those were taken with the 50D. I was searching out snowmobiling shots at the time and wanted a camera that could handle faster action. And boy, was I glad I brought it as I got much better action than I could have ever hoped for. I did use the G10 on the snowshoeing shot of my wife in the Humans and Landscape thread.
