I am going to Paraguay in early September 2009. I have a week to myself and wanted to take advantage of any good photo opportunities out there. I don't know much about the country so any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not that familiar with the interior of Paraguay itself, but I know it shares a border with the Iguazu Falls area. Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay all converge together near the falls. You will need to leave Paraguay to physically see the falls. Seeing them from the Argentina side would not require a Visa, but to cross into Brazil does require a Visa. Even at low water they are a spectacular sight! If you decide to splurge on a Brazil visa, you can see the falls from both sides and consider a quick 1-2 day trip to the Brazilian Pantanal. The Missiones district of Argentina near the falls has some beautiful colonial era churches and the Argentine cowboy culture is still very much alive there.

Your best bet would be to check out Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree forum. I always spend time there for tips and advice before traveling to Latin America.
That link should take you directly to the Paraguay board. Best of luck on your trip!
