My eagle didn't get as big a fish as the one Wally shot, but he or she has a good hold on it. I haven't shot over a couple hundred at a time but when the eagles are flying around like mosquitos in the summer it is hard not to. This morning there were probably 75-100 in the air about all the time.

Beautiful shot. Wish you had been able to get the full top wing in the photo but expect that is your wish as well.

Nice catch for both the bird and the photographer! I especially like the portrait and detail. The BG and clipped wings are obviously not optimal, but the look in the eye of the bird is what makes it a keeper for me. Poor little fish didn't have much of a chance tho. I'm amazed at the numbers of eagles you are reporting. Are they here all winter?
The eagles are here Jan ahd most of Feb sorta depends on the weather we have some through April but not in as great a numbers. I am posting a shot that is at 240mm so it shows some of what is there. There are a lot in the trees in BG but they are just little white spots in this shot. This is the way it looks for about 100 yards south of dam
Stephen check out my earlier posts. They are at lock& Dam 18 on the Mississippi river but there are eagles all along the river this time of year. This area is nice because it is in the country and not as many people around. There are enough eagles here to go around.
I suppose the clipped wing qualifies as a nit, but only for those capable of doing better...and that certainly doesn't include me; what I know about photographing birds in flight would fit in a thimble with plenty of room left over. Great shot, Kendall.

I'm jealous...the Eagles still haven't shown up here, yet you have so many. Regardless....this is a very nice capture, minus the clipped wing, but I'd be very happy with something similar.
